MASTER BEDROOM
The apartment has three bedrooms, the largest of which is a little over 140 ft². The only change made to the master bedroom, other than what was done throughout the apartment, was adding a closet with mirrored doors, to make the room feel brighter.
The bedrooms originally had funky beige tiger-striped tile flooring. They were small, dark, airless and cluttered.
The changes made in the bedrooms are similar to the library; we added picture mouldings, installed a ceiling fan, and renovated the original cast iron radiators.
Though the bedroom fans are smaller, they are equally efficient. There is no need for air conditioning even during Madrid’s hot summers.
CHILD’S BEDROOM
The second bedroom is a little less than 100 ft². It is on the interior, courtyard side of the apartment and is very quiet, making it a perfect bedroom for our young son.
It was equally dark and cluttered with built-in cabinets, which made the space almost too narrow to walk through.
SMALL BEDROOM
The smallest of the three bedrooms is only about 60 ft². Like our son’s room, it is interior, on the courtyard side of the building, and is very quiet. We used it primarily as an office space.
